Our origin story

Phoenix Yoga was born from a community that refused to give up.

When The House of Yoga closed its doors unexpectedly, the community had a choice: let it go, or build something new. They built something new. Teachers and students came together, pooled resources, and rebuilt the studio from the ground up.

Community ownership isn’t just a label we carry — it changes how we make decisions. 25% of all profits are reinvested into Phoenix and local initiatives. When a flood hit the studio, the community fundraised. When we launched our first YTT, teachers and students shaped the curriculum together. The timetable reflects what people actually ask for. The pricing is structured around what’s fair, not what the market will bear. Every time something hard has happened, the people in this studio are the reason we’re still here — and that’s not a footnote. That’s the whole point.

Proud to be Putney

Putney isn’t just where we are. It’s who we are.

25% reinvested

Every year, into the studio and local initiatives.

Community built

Members fundraised after the flood. We’re still here because of them.

YTT shaped by students

Our teacher training curriculum was built with the people who trained in it.

We welcome students from across South West London — Putney, Wandsworth, Southfields, Barnes, Roehampton, Fulham and beyond. Find us for yoga in SW15. Phoenix Yoga is a short walk from Putney Bridge tube (District line) and East Putney station.

Phoenix Yoga community class

“When Phoenix rose from the ashes, I was determined to help my new community thrive.”

July 2023 – July 2026

Three years of building something real.

From our very first class to our first Yoga Teacher Training cohort — here’s a little of what we’ve been up to.

Year One — 2023

Finding our feet.

We opened our doors on Upper Richmond Road, SW15 and filled them with teachers, students and a sense of possibility. Sliding scale pricing from day one. A community that showed up — again and again.

Year Two — 2024

Putting down roots.

We launched an NHS 20% discount, deepened our workshop programme and kept investing in the studio. Then came the summer flood — and the community that helped us rebuild. We came back stronger.

Year Three — 2025/26

Recognition & growth.

Named a ClassPass Best Studio. Our 200hr Yoga Teacher Training launched in partnership with The Yoga Institute. Pulse Club (sauna & ice bath) signed next door. Our director Ray joined the Positively Putney board. New artwork. New classes. New energy.

July 2026

Third anniversary — and counting.

Three years. Hundreds of students. Fifteen-plus teachers. International Women’s Day fundraisers, community Q&As, give-what-you-can classes, and a GoFundMe that’s nearly at its target. There is a lot more still to come.

Our three pillars

What Phoenix stands for.

Yoga for every body

Yoga for every body

Our classes are led by skilled, passionate teachers who see yoga as a way of living, not just a form of exercise. We cater to all levels with sessions designed to be supportive, dynamic, and creative.

Well-being

Well-being, in and out

We want Phoenix to be a space where you can genuinely focus on your physical and mental health. Through movement, breath, and stillness, we help you find calm amid the pace of London life.

Phoenix Yoga community

Shaped by our community

Everything we do is informed by the people who walk through our doors. Our schedule, our events, our classes — all of it evolves in response to your feedback.

Why they teach here

“Yoga is a way of being — a path to finding our way back to ourselves, and to creating pathways with others and the world around us.”

Zara — Yoga Teacher, 13 years

“I teach yoga as an evolving inquiry into being human — where body, mind, spirit and environment are not separate, but in constant dialogue.”

Kylie — Yoga Teacher

“I feel privileged to share these practices — and to help break down the barriers that keep yoga inaccessible to so many.”

Sarah — Yoga Teacher
